Welcome update for yacht crews at HUISFIT by Royal Huisman in Amsterdam: regulations have recently become significantly easier. A recent change in immigration policy now allows non-EU yacht crew to remain in the Netherlands for extended periods — beyond the previous 90-day limit — when involved in refits or surveys.*
The HUISFIT team considers this as a major step forward in ensuring continuity and quality. Having yacht crew on-site enables smoother communication, streamlined workflows, and better project outcomes. This aligns perfectly with the HUISFIT approach: delivering reliability and top-tier quality — on time and within budget.
The results of this new policy for a project at HUISFIT:
- No more crew rotation due to visa limits
- Stay up to 9 months with no work permit required
- Assistance with crew registration and comfortable on-site housing
- Full support with VAT inward processing and refits
- Streamlined planning and predictable budgeting
- Quality and expertise at the highest standard
Looking ahead to the upcoming season? HUISFIT is flexible and open to discussing shipyard slots — even for short-term needs. The team is available to help make the stay of the crew as well as the project as smooth and successful as possible.
Could HUISFIT by Royal Huisman be the smart choice for your project too?
*) UPDATE: Permit for longer crew stays unfortunately postponed - Last spring, the Dutch government made positive progress toward allowing yacht crew to remain in the Netherlands for longer periods. Unfortunately, the government collapsed in June 2025, followed by new elections. Huisfit and the industry association continue to actively engage with government authorities to enable extended stays for crew in the Netherlands during refits or surveys. We will keep you updated as soon as the situation and / or law changes as this is very important for you as well and the team at Huisfit.
